Brand positioning and visual identity for a German NGO focused on political, democratic, and civil society development in Europe.

Overview

Convinced of the necessity to foster an inclusive and easily accessible Europe, EuropaNova was born in Berlin in 2020 with a critical ambition: to meaningfully contribute to the development of a political, democratic, and civil Europe capable of defending the interests of its citizens and promoting its values within a multipolar world.

The challenge

Europa Nova was ready for a bold yet institutional brand experience that positioned them at the forefront of developing European political innovation through an engagement of younger generations.

Visual Identity

EuropaNova’s mark represents momentum, speed, energy, and driving change. It is inspired by the European flags but also as a platform where ideas take place and bounce off. The brandmark can be used alone or in proximity to the logotype in each composition. Using elements of the brandmark, we created an iconic pattern that can be used across various applications, including poster design, social media, and ads. ENG's primary colour palette uses the same shade of blue as the mother organisation EN, but we added two other nuances to create visual texture and dynamism. We selected the free-to-use Helvetica Neue font as the institutional and timeless typeface.

Brand Development

Europa Nova Germany requires an identity that proudly differentiates them from their mothership Europa Nova and generally the more corporate world of Politics. The world of politics is full of innocuous blues, monograms, austere design, and a general lack of personality. In contrast, Europa Nova Germany identified their brand attributes as trusted, playful, and bold.
